This Centre of Excellence will cater to the skill requirements of the cluster of industries in the particular areas by organizing multi-skilled courses.

The Institute has selected "Apparel Sector" for Centre of Excellence because "Surat Apparel Park" under "SEZ-Special Economic Zone" is started at Sachin near Surat. Looking to the developing growth rate in future, the demand of skilled operators, pattern makers, supervisors, masters etc. in apparel will increase a lot. Surat with its strong fabric base is looking out for forward integration & Apparel Industry is going to come up very fast in near future. Training is going to be a key to the success of the industry and "Centre of Excellence" can undertake a major share of this responsibility.
